2007 Vintage
The 2007 growing season started off strong, with a slightly warmer spring than normal that provided ideal conditions for fruit set. Moderate temperatures persisted during the summer, with no major heat spikes, leading to nearly ideal fruit maturation going into late September when significant rain began and didn’t let up until late October. This led to higher acid levels and tart, light wines for some growers. We harvest 2.7 tons/acre and finished September 27th just before the rains began. The grapes were at ~24 Brix with great color, aromatics and structure.
For the 2007 vintage, from 28 barrels total 3 were selected from each of the three Pinot Noir clones in our vineyard for Single Clone bottling and named after our grandchildren – Mirabelle Clone 115, Hans Clone Pommard and Brigita Clone 777. The remaining 19 barrels were blended and are labeled 3-Clones. Barrel aging was for 11 months in French oak ranging from 26% new for the 3-Clones to 33% for the Single Clones. Bottling was on September 25th with pHs, TAs and alcohol in the 3.6, 5.5 and 14.8 ranges, respectively.
PLEASE NOTE: The total cost does not include shipping costs or any applicable tax..
