The summer of 2008 was very cool through June and July and provided winemakers with major concerns about ripening their fruit. Consequently, most vineyards pruned heavily to insure harvesting at least some good grapes. Finally, a gorgeous late summer and early fall not only ripening the fruit but perhaps made it into a great vintage. Because Vidon is a very warm and early ripening vineyard, we didn’t prune as heavily as most neighboring vineyards and brought in 2.1 tons per acre of beautiful fruit.

Chehalem Mountains 3-Clones

Bottled in September 2009. Bright with the fragrance of red berries; good balance; quite approachable in spite of being very young; will improve a lot within a few months but two or three years of bottle aging will bring out its greatness. Recommend holding a year, drink through 2018. 360 cases.

These wines were bottled in March, 2010 after aging 17 months in 50% new French oak.
2008 Brigita
Brigita Clone 777

An elegant wine, lighter than the other clones, very aromatic with hints of earthiness, bright cherry and currant.  Burgundian in style, this well-balanced and complex wine will develop more nuanced flavors as it ages for another five to six years.  50 cases produced.
2008 Hans
Hans Clone Pommard

A robust, powerful and velvety wine with dark red fruits including black cherry and black current with coffee and chocolate undertones.  This well-balanced and complex wine will continue to develop as it ages for at least another seven or eight years.  Recommend decanting before serving; drink now through 2019.  50 cases produced.
2008 Mirabelle
Mirabelle Clone 115

A rich and full-bodied wine with lots of red raspberry flavors and a long finish. Very aromatic with hints of smoke and rustic cedar.  This well-balanced and complex wine will continue to develop more flavors for another six or seven years.  Recommend decanting before serving; drink now through 2016.  70 cases produced.
