Our WinesVidon released its first wine, the 2003 Pinot Noir, on Memorial Day weekend in 2005. Only 200 cases were produced. The 2003 yield in Willamette Valley was extremely low, averaging less than 1 ton/acre in many vineyards. We harvested 1.5 tons/acre in our warm and vigorous site, half of which was sold. The wine was aged 15 months in French oak barrels of which 25% were new. Robert Parker review: Chocolate-laced black fruit aromas lead to a medium-bodied personality filled with dark plums, blueberries, and red cherries. This excellent wine is satin-textured yet reveals loads of highly present tannin in the finish. Rating: 89 – drink between 2007 and 2013. SOLD OUT The 2004 Pinot Noir was aged 11 months in French oak, bottled on September 9th, and released
at Thanksgiving in 2005. This wine has a more of that "Burgundian" earthiness than the 2003 and
more fruit. Aromas of deep forest floor, wet stones, dark berries, mushrooms and roses fill the air The 2005 Pinot Noir was harvested on September 26th and 27th before heavy rains arrived. Yield was near normal at 1.9 tons/acre; quality excellent. We bottled 290 cases on September 21st including 50 cases of Mirabelle RESERVE which is a single D115 clone wine. The RESERVE is a very big wine with lots of berries and a great finish which SOLD OUT quickly. The 2005 Willamette Valley has developed into a really big wine with a deep color and intense fruit flavors that opens up beautifully in a few hours. These wines were released at Thanksgiving 2006. The 2006 Pinot Noir was harvested on October 2nd and 3rd with a yield of 2.6 tons/acre. Last September 10th the wines were bottled after nearly a year in French oak. The Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir (410 cases), a blend of three clones with ~20% new oak, was released at Thanksgiving. The Mirabelle RESERVE (99 cases, 100% new oak) and Clone 115 (48 cases, 30% new oak) will be released Memorial Day 2008.
